Day 31 - Jackson Hole 23 September

Had a lazy morning before we took off on our Snake River float trip.

Hayden, our guide, pointed out the Cottonwood trees which were in their autumn colours.

We saw a couple of bald eagles early in the trip as we floated gently down this swift braided river. Unfortunately, no moose.

Afternoon, and we head out to Jenny Lake. We first went to the visitor centre then headed up to Signal Mountain.

The legend of Kiowa and Popping Ears of the Fukahwi tribe, from Planet Apgar, developed during this expedition, along with KOA and Calamity Val. So too the realisation that Kiowa and KOA may be distant brothers! We had loads of fun with this theme during our trip.

But I digress! There were superb views over the Jackson Hole, the name given to the wide valley carved by the Snake River eons ago. The town of Jackson is the main centre here but there are other smaller towns which mainly service the winter ski industry.

Returning to Jenny Lake we took more of a look around, it is a very pretty spot; lots of hiking trails, but to undertake such activities you need to stay in the area for several days.

Hayden, our guide, loves his work

Because of a large out of control fire south of town, the mountains were shrouded in smoke

Beaver activity. This tree will probably come down in the next flood

Magpies sitting on debris from the Spring flood earlier in the year
