Today, we walked
through the old town - Gamle - through the cobbled streets lined with white
timbered houses, many with lovely flowers in pots and troughs out the front.
This part of town was under threat of demolition until a determined group of
residents saved it from destruction. Now it is protected and is certainly an
attraction in itself for visitors to the town.
We continued around
the harbour to the other side and wandered through more lanes and back to the
ship. A very pleasant morning. We would have had time to take in the cruise up
Lyslefjord as well but decided against it.

Along the foreshore a rather fine anchor
The ubiquitous troll at the visitors' centre
A guard tower also used for fire watch in the old town
Lovely fresh food market in town, also selling flowers
