Day 8 - Akureyri 31 August

Today we had a whale watch on a rib boat organised with some others from the ship. We had time before this to walk into the town and visit the botanical gardens.

The whale watch was very successful. We mainly saw humpbacks, but they are different to those in the Southern Hemisphere inasmuch as they have completely white pectoral fins.

We were also treated to a sighting of a regular visitor King Louis, who popped up for the first time this summer!

This whale dived straight underneath our boat!

This waterfall is hot. It is only temporary while a new tunnel is being built through one side of the fjord

A lovely sunset while we cruised out of the fjord
